MhalaMhala is a standard-bearer sounding the end-time alarm before the return of Jesus Christ through evangelism, education, empowerment, and exhortation with cultural relevance.
MhalaMhala is a Shangaan word meaning, “shofar/horn,” spoken by the Shangaan people of Mozambique. Our vision is to minister the gospel with cultural relevance using a variety of spiritual gifts and practical methods with the kind of excellence–like the clarity of a trumpet–that takes people and institutions to the next level. Our focus includes empowering women and girls, equipping teachers, and using the communicative arts to exhort the Church and evangelize the lost.
The “mhalamhala” is an instrument which was assigned to the biblical royal priesthood and watchmen to project distinct signals to the people across the land according to God’s set time. The MhalaMhala Foundation carries the mandate of a standard-bearer: An officer of an army, company or troop, that bears a standard; an ensign of infantry or a cornet of horse. A call to repentance – Ezekiel 33
If the watchman fails to signal the warning, he is subject to the same judgment.
Joel 2:1 Sound the alarm, for the day of the Lord is at hand!
A call to position – 1Corinthians 14:8
The clarity of the shofar’s signal is crucial to the decisive and precise obedience it is calling for. When God tells a Believer to do something, it is not a suggestion to be considered but a command to be obeyed. When the Church walks in obedience to the Word of God with the gifts He has given us, we will fulfill the Great Commission by the power of the Holy Spirit.
A call for help – Nehemiah 4:20
Our God will fight for us.
A call to worship – Psalm 150
Worship the LORD with the trumpet!
A proclamation of liberty – Leviticus 25
Sound the trumpet loud and long throughout all the land and proclaim liberty in the year of jubilee.
A weapon of warfare – Judges 7:22
The trumpet is not soothing but compelling. It has the capacity to make one very uncomfortable. It quickens conviction in man and confusion to the camp of the enemy.
Announce the return of King Jesus – 1Thessalonians 4:16
At the blast of the trumpet Christ will appear in the twinkling of an eye to rescue those who have repented of their sin and trusted in His salvation. But time is running out for those who have not yet repented.
